Boogie Nights - yes or no?

I didn't view it as a comedy at all. There were certainly some great lines and Mark Wahlberg plays the inexperienced young guy perfectly however it is really about the descent into drugs and how fame is fleeting and ultimately unfulfilling if you are not happy in the first place. I enjoyed it when I watched it in the 90s and watched it again recently but it makes me feel quite sad.
